28Winter arrived, and Lily and Sam were amazed to see the first snowflakes falling from the sky. They hurried to find Mrs. Diana with wonder in their eyes.Lily asked, %u201cMrs. Diana, what%u2019s so special about winter? We want to know!%u201dMrs. Diana smiled kindly and began to explain, %u201cWinter is a time of snowy adventures, my dear students! The Earth moves away from the sun, making the days shorter and the nights longer. It gets really cold outside, and everything gets covered in a soft, white blanket called snow.%u201d %u201cWhat do snowflakes look like?%u201d asked Sam.Mrs. Diana replied, %u201cSnowflakes are like tiny ice crystals. They are in different shapes. Every snowflake is special and has its own pretty pattern. When lots of snowflakes fall together, they make the ground look white.%u201d
